A 51 year old Somali national has been arrested in Nakuru County after several children accused him of allegedly luring them to his home with food, sweets and money before sexually abusing them.
According to a police report, the incident was reported at Bondeni Police Station by a children’s officer from Nakuru East Office following allegations of child sexual abuse involving a man living in Manyani Estate.
Police officers proceeded to the suspect’s residence, where they arrested Omar Sharif Ali in his two bedroom apartment on the second floor of a three-storey residential building.
During a search of the house, officers recovered a Samsung smartphone alleged to contain obscene material, four Nokia mobile phones, another button phone, an Acer laptop, a Dell computer CPU, three compact discs, a Somali national identity card, an expired Somali passport, documents written in Arabic, a PlayStation, sweets and assorted food items, including rice, sugar, cooking oil, eggs and maize flour.
The complainants alleged they had been enticed to visit the house with promises of good food, sweets and cash before being sexually abused.
They further claimed that many other children had also been victimised at the same residence.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed the scene and collected evidence, while the suspect was detained at Bondeni Police Station pending further investigations.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Nakuru East have taken over the case.
