Police Officer Injured as Suspects Escape During Arrest Attempt in Naivasha

A police officer of a rank of a Sergeant has been injured after two suspects attacked officers with a knife and clubs during an operation to arrest them over the malicious destruction of a market stall and theft in Ndabibi, Naivasha,Kiambu County

The incident occurred on Saturday morning after vegetable vendor Margaret Ngina reported to Ndabibi Central Police Post that her stall at Ndabibi Market had been vandalised and construction materials, including iron sheets and timber, stolen.

Police officers from Ndabibi Central Police Post and Aquila Police Patrol Base responded to the scene and confirmed the damage before tracing the suspects to a nearby house.

According to police, the two male suspects, who were armed with a knife and rungus, violently resisted arrest and attacked the officers.

During the confrontation, Sgt John Lemoko of Aquila Police Post sustained a deep cut on the middle finger of his right hand after being stabbed with a knife.

He was also struck on the back with a rungu, leaving him in severe pain.

The suspects escaped from the scene before they could be arrested.

Police recovered several suspected stolen items, including iron sheets and a bucket, from the suspects’ house.

The injured officer was rushed to Emayian Medical Clinic, where he received treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.

Police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects, while investigations into the incident continue.
