By Our Correspondent,Gilgil.

A six year old boy was abducted by armed robbers after his mother was attacked and robbed of cash moments after withdrawing money from an M-Pesa shop in Gilgil, Nakuru County.

The incident occurred at around 5.00 p.m. on Saturday in the Police Line Village area along the Kikopey–Elementaita Road.

According to police, Hellen Wanja had withdrawn Sh7,000 from an M-Pesa outlet and was walking home with her two children when she was confronted by two masked men riding an unregistered motorcycle.

The suspects, who were armed with swords, threatened the woman before robbing her of the Sh7,000.

They then seized her six son Ryan Mwangi, placed him between them on the motorcycle and sped off towards the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway, leaving the distraught mother behind with her other child.

Police officers from Kikopey Police Post visited the scene and questioned members of the public.

However, no witnesses were able to identify the motorcycle or provide information that could lead to arrest of the suspects.

The motive behind the child’s abduction remains unclear, and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Gilgil have launched investigations as efforts to trace the missing boy and apprehend the suspects continue.
