As 2026 begins, Presidential Aspirant Boniface Mwangi has shared a powerful message of resilience and profound gratitude to the Kenyan people. Following a harrowing year, Mwangi is looking toward the future with a renewed commitment to his mission for the country.
A Journey from Captivity to Recovery
In his message, Mwangi reflected on his abduction in Tanzania in May 2025. He described the “agonizing days” he spent blindfolded, handcuffed, and subjected to torture during his time in captivity.
The physical toll of the ordeal was severe:
- Mwangi reported suffering over 25 unique injuries during his abduction.
- Upon his release, he returned home “broken and injured,” initially unable to walk.
- Despite these challenges, he credits the relentless public fight for his freedom as the reason he was eventually released and is alive today.
Resilience and the “Good Fight”
Six months after his return, Mwangi shared that he is back on his feet. While he acknowledged being physically injured by the experience, he emphasized that he was “not defeated”. He expressed deep thanks to his family and the Kenyans who advocated for his safety and return.
A Promise for 2026 and Beyond
Looking ahead to the next chapter of his life, the Presidential Aspirant has made a firm promise to continue his activism and political struggle.
“I will continue the struggle for a better Kenya and a better world. We deserve better, and shall never tire of fighting for the future we all deserve.”
Mwangi concluded his message by wishing for a kinder 2026 for all and reaffirming that the fight for the future is a debt owed to “ourselves and our children”.
