Al-Shabaab uniforms recovered in Eastleigh

By Our Reporter,Nairobi.

A multi agency security team has recovered a large consignment of suspected Al-Shabaab military fatigues in an intelligence led operation in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

The operation according to police was conducted by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Starehe and the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), targeting premises within the KBS Garage area.

The operation follows a prior interception of twenty five bales of similar camouflage uniforms in Dhobley on April 6, 2026, by the Jubaland Security Forces (JSF).

Police in their report filed at Pangani police station yesterday indicated that the consignment was destined for a suspect currently in custody in Dhobley.

Investigations in Nairobi led officers to Gaani Parcel Express, located along 12th Street in Eastleigh, which is believed to have received part of the shipment.

Due to limited storage space, the consignment was temporarily stored at a neighboring business, Vision Point Express.

During the raid, officers recovered:
Eleven bales, each containing 60 full camouflage uniforms and 120 T-shirts
One additional bale containing 65 camouflage uniforms and 120 T-shirts.

Further leads directed investigators to Safe Link Cargo at Soma Towers, suspected to have facilitated the importation of a total of thirty seven bales of the uniforms.

The cargo is believed to have originated from China and entered the country through the Port of Mombasa as consolidated freight.

Police revealed that the shipment was collected on April 4, 2026, before being transported to Eastleigh for distribution.

Several key suspects linked to the operation have since been arrested and are currently in custody under ATPU, pending further investigations.

All recovered items have been documented as exhibits.

Security agencies say investigations are ongoing to establish the full network behind the shipment and its intended use, amid heightened concerns over terrorism related activities in the region.
