Anti-poaching operation nabs one suspect Arrested with elephant tusks in Lungalunga

A joint security operation in Lungalunga,Kwale county has led to the arrest of a suspect found in possession of elephant tasks.

According to police reports,the operation was conducted on Saturday in the evening following reports shared by officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).

The intelligence led operation involved a coordinated effort between KWS officers and police, who had been trailing the suspect before launching a manhunt.

Nyamawi Mwandia Kulemba,the suspect was apprehended in the Shirikisho area.

He was found transporting four elephant tusks weighing approximately 39 kilograms.

The tusks were concealed in sacks and being ferried on a numberless blue Haojin motorcycle.

Police confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody at Lungalunga Police Station and is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday.

The recovered trophies have been secured as exhibits.
