By Pastor Vincent Roy Agoya.
In this account, Philip excitedly tells Nathanael he has found the Messiah—Jesus of Nazareth.
Nathanael’s response is biting and skeptical: “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”
Nazareth was a backwater town, overlooked and undervalued. Nathanael’s prejudice almost blinded him to the greatest miracle in history. We often do the same with our own “Nazareths”—those seasons of unemployment, broken relationships, or personal failures. We look at the dry soil of our current struggle and ask, “Can anything good come out of this mess?”
The Gospel answers with a resounding yes.
God specializes in using the “lowly things of this world” to disrupt our expectations. Your current hardship isn’t a dead end; it’s the soil for a miracle. Don’t let your location, your past, or your current struggle define your potential. Like Philip said to the skeptic: “Come and see.” Trust that God is working in the places you’ve already written off.
What situation are you currently doubting?
Stop looking at the “town” and start looking for the “Messiah” within the trial.
