“Simon Peter answered him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.'” — John 6:68–69
In John 6, the crowds vanish when Jesus’ teaching gets tough.
The miracles were great, but the commitment was too high. When Jesus asks the Twelve if they want to leave too, Peter’s response is a masterpiece of desperate clarity.
He wasn’t claiming to have all the answers or a perfect understanding of the theology.
He was simply acknowledging a profound reality: once you’ve encountered the Truth, every other “solution” the world offers feels like a hollow echo. We often chase “life” in career milestones, digital validation, or temporary comforts, yet find ourselves spiritually starving.
Peter’s wisdom reminds us that Christ isn’t just a lifestyle choice; He is the only source of the peace and permanence we crave. When life feels overwhelming or God feels silent, don’t look for an exit, look closer at the One who holds eternity.
Stop “window shopping” for fulfillment. Identify one area of your life where you’ve been seeking satisfaction outside of God’s truth (such as social media validation or professional status). Surrender that pursuit today by spending 10 minutes in intentional prayer, specifically asking Christ to be your primary source of life and peace.
