Boda Boda Rider Electrocuted in Nyali

A bodaboda rider aged 37 died on Saturday evening after being electrocuted at a car wash in Nyali, Mombasa County.

According to a report filed at Kadzandani Police Station, the incident occurred at around 5:50pm in the Mwembeni area about 500 metres from the police station.

The deceased, identified as Daniel Mungai Kinuthia, had gone to a local car wash to clean his motorcycle.

Police said there were no attendants present at the facility, prompting him to begin washing the bike on his own.

In the process, he was electrocuted and collapsed.

A fellow boda boda rider, James Njoroge, reported the incident to police.

The victim was rushed to Dohani Hospital while still showing signs of life, but was later pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.

Officers who responded to the report proceeded to the hospital, where death was confirmed.

The body was subsequently transferred to Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation pending a postmortem examination.

Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing, with detectives from DCI Nyali handling the case.
