The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has banned 21 unapproved mobile phone brands from the kenya market, warning that they pose a safety and health risk to the users.
CA Director-General (DG) David Mugonyi, in a notice cautioned against an influx of the said mobile phone brands.
Among those blacklisted are; Realfone, Qqmee, U-FM, Chatada, Superx, Tinsik, F+, Fonrox, Mez, Nemojo, Vue, Bundy, and Momofly. Others are: Ugbad, FT, Raeno, WR, X Oda, Smba, Q-Seven and Switch.
Mugonyi has thus requested members of the public to always check the authenticity of the mobile phones before purchasing by dialing *#06# and sending the 15-digit IMEI number as an SMS to 1555, or on the CA website, a service that is free of any charge.
