A Cameroonian national Fabanou Wassou Joseph De-Dieu, alias Joseph3 Kabongo Malika was on Monday Charged with allegedly obtaining Sh 3,336,000 in a fake gold transaction.
Fabanou who appeared before Milimani magistrate Terresiah Nyangina, pleaded not guilty to two counts including that of obtaining and was released on a bond of Sh 500,000 or alternatively pay a cash bail of Sh 100,000.
The magistrate further ordered that the accused person deposit his passport in court.
According to the charge sheet its stated that the accused commited the offence between May 1,2024 and August 9, 2024.
He committed the offence in Kileleshwa,Nairobi jointly with others not before the court.
The charge sheet added that he conspired to defraud Hayet Amri a sum of USD 26,000 by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell him 20kg of gold ,a fact he knew to be false.
In count two the accused who had just been acquitted in a another matter related to gold trade was also charged with receiving proceeds of crime.
The matter will be mentioned on March 31 for pre trial directions.
