A primary school headteacher was carjacked early Monday morning in a chilling dawn attack outside her home in Gitimbine area, Imenti North, Meru County.

According to a police report filed at Meru Police Station at 5.59 a.m., the incident occurred at about 5.46 a.m. as the victim, Ruth Kamundi, was leaving her residence for school.

Police said two unknown male suspects accosted her at the gate, with one forcefully pulling her out of the vehicle while the second jumped in and took control.

The assailants sped off in her motor vehicle, a silver Toyota Fielder escaping towards the Mati Road direction.

At the time of the robbery, the vehicle reportedly had Sh150,000 in cash and a gas cylinder inside.

Officers said the stolen vehicle’s details have been circulated to all police patrol units and neighbouring stations as investigations continue.

No injuries were reported, and the victim recorded a statement immediately after the incident.

The latest carjacking adds to growing concern over early morning attacks targeting motorists as they leave their homes, prompting renewed calls for heightened vigilance during dawn hours.

Police have urged members of the public to report any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the vehicle.
