Chinese National Arrested in Isebania Over Suspected Organized Crime Links

Police officers from the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) and the Immigration Department on Sunday arrested a Chinese national in connection with links to a spate of organized crime in the area and around the region.

The arrest followed a coordinated intelligence led operation in Migori County.

The suspect, identified as Zhu Yiwei, 51 was apprehended at Isebania within Kuria West.

According to police records, the arrest followed actionable intelligence linking the foreigner to suspected organized criminal activities in Migori and other parts of the country.

Authorities said the operation was carried out by officers attached to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit in collaboration with the Immigration Department based in Isebania.

Police said that further details regarding the alleged criminal network are being handled by the ATPU investigation team.

The suspect has since been placed in custody and is awaiting transfer to Nairobi for further interrogation at ATPU headquarters.

Investigations are ongoing under the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, with the suspect currently treated as a person of interest.
