Former NHIF boss Geoffrey Mwangi is set to fly the flag of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) in the 2027 race for Nakuru Governor.
Sources close to Mwangi have told Daily News Kenya-International that his growing influence within the party, particularly his role in coordinating grassroots activities across Nakuru County, has earned him the confidence of party leader Rigathi Gachagua.
Mwangi is expected to mount a formidable challenge against incumbent Governor Susan Kihika, who is likely to seek re-election on the ticket of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
The upcoming contest is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched gubernatorial battles in the region.
