DNK International Marks One Year of Resilient Journalism at Nairobi Gala

Daily News Kenya–International (DNK-International) commemorated its first anniversary today at Garden Square Restaurant, marked by a series of powerful statements from leadership and members reflecting on a year of rapid growth and a commitment to “striking the ground” for truth. The occasion served as both a reflection on a turbulent debut year and a strategic launchpad for the upcoming 2027 electoral cycle.

In a keynote statement, spiritual leader Pastor Roy Agoya drew from the biblical account of King Joash to urge the organization to avoid the trap of “partial victory.” Agoya noted that while this first year was about planting seeds, the mission must continue with bold action to “amplify voices that matter and shape conversations that impact society.”

Patron Hon. Peter Mutua Mutuku sent a message highlighting the platform’s resilience amidst professional risk, calling for a moment of silence for departed members, including Bishop Gilbert Deya and KTN cameraman Rashid Iddi.

The cost of truth-seeking was a central theme in the dispatched remarks. Mutuku pointed to the arrest of founder Collins Kweyu during a judicial bribery investigation and the harrowing torture of member Boniface Mwangi as sobering reminders of the perils facing modern journalism.

Adding to the call for progress, former Safina party deputy leader Dinah Agai sent a message urging the platform to “keep empowering the masses with accurate information for an enlightened society.”

The anniversary also signaled DNK’s evolution into a hub for civic leadership through several declarations of intent for 2027. These included Cyprian Nyamwamu for Nairobi Governor, Boniface Mwangi for the Presidency, and media personality Tina Ogal for legislative office.

Veteran editor Xavier Lugaga concluded the anniversary tributes by noting that the mission remains clear: building an enlightened society on the foundation of truth.
