Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity, Veteran activist eyeing Kenya’s Top Seat

Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity is a Kenyan human-rights activist, anti-corruption crusader, and former trade union leader whose decades long advocacy has positioned him as a notable voice in governance reform.

He was born in August 1954 in Elburgon,Nakuru County.

Kinity rose through the ranks of organized labour to becom Secretary General of the Kenya Civil Servants Union (KCSU).

His tenure in the union movement was marked by outspoken criticism of corruption and mismanagement in public service.

In 1985, he founded the Kenya Revolutionary Redemption Council (K.R.R.C.), a platform aimed at advancing good governance, accountability, and social justice in Kenya.

His activism, however, came at a personal cost.

Kinity reportedly survived multiple assassination attempts, one of which left him partially paralysed and blind.

Following these incidents, he fled into exile in the United States, where he pursued higher education in environmental science at the University of New Haven.

While there, he also served in the institution’s Undergraduate Student Government, reflecting continued engagement in leadership and advocacy.

Kinity has since maintained an active presence in international governance and anti-corruption circles.

He has participated in global forums such as the International Anti-Corruption Conference 2008 and engagements linked to the World Bank and Kenya Development Consortium.

Currently he’s serving as Global Vice-Chairman of the Diaspora Movement of Kenya,Kinity continues to advocate for democratic reforms, transparency, and the protection of citizens’ rights both within Kenya and abroad.

He is also reported to be a member of a U.S. Presidential Advisory Committee.

Recently sections of Kenyan opinion leaders and workers’ groups have endorsed him as a potential presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.

He will be seeking the seat of Presidency on National Vision party which is led by Engineer Antony Chelimo.

Branding himself as a “clean” leader, Kinity has pledged to confront entrenched corruption, address unemployment, and resolve longstanding land injustices.

Despite living in the United States, he remains an active figure in Kenyan political discourse, appealing particularly to reform-minded citizens and the diaspora.
