Drunken son kills his 83 year old father in Bungoma

A 43 year old man is on the run after allegedly beating his elderly father to death following a domestic dispute in Bungoma County.

According to a police report from Mechimeru Patrol Base under Sang’alo Police Station in Bungoma South County, the incident was reported today by Susan Wanjala who said the suspect, identified as Asman Wanjala Khisa arrived home on the night of March 7, 2026 at around 8.30pm while appearing drunk and started quarrelling with his father, Khisa Sibona Waliaru, aged 83.

During the altercation, the suspect allegedly demanded money from the elderly man.

When the father refused, the suspect reportedly picked up his father’s walking stick and assaulted him repeatedly until he collapsed.

Neighbours who responded to distress calls raised by the suspect’s wife attempted to intervene but were chased away by the suspect who was armed with a panga.

The suspect remained within the homestead until the morning of March 8, 2026 when the elderly man was found lying lifeless in his bed with blood-stained clothes and the suspected murder weapon beside the body.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Bungoma South, accompanied by police officers from Mechimeru Patrol Base, visited the scene which was processed and documented by Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel.

The body was later moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.

The suspect fled the scene and police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.
