Fake Money Scam Suspect Rescued from Mob

A 35 year old man narrowly escaped death today after being rescued from an angry mob in Komosoko Centre, Kuria West, Migori County for being engaged in fake money circulation.

Police at Isebania Police Station,said the incident occurred at around 2:00 PM within the Kumumwamu Patrol Base area.

The suspect, identified as Dan Okech, was reportedly being assaulted by members of the public who accused him of defrauding them by claiming he could print and double money.

Police officers responded swiftly to the scene, where they found the suspect already injured from the mob attack.

He was rescued and immediately re-arrested before being escorted to Isebania Police Station.
A subsequent search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of 23 counterfeit Sh 1,000 notes along with materials believed to be used in the illegal operation, including ink.

The suspect is currently in police custody, receiving medical attention for injuries sustained during the assault, and is expected to be arraigned in court.

The case is pending before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who have launched further investigations into the matter.

Authorities have once again warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, urging them instead to report suspected criminal activities to the police.
