Family Dispute Turns Fiery as Man Sets Own House Ablaze in Mwea.

Police in Mwea East,Kirinyaga county have launched investigations into an arson incident in which a middle aged man allegedly set his own house on fire following a domestic disagreement in Holyland Estate, Tebere Location.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 6:00pm, and was reported at Wanguru Police Station.

According to police, the report was made by Sarah Kagai, a 28 year old resident of the area.

Kagai told police that her father, Kennedy Munene Nyambura, aged 45, deliberately set their house ablaze before locking himself inside.

She raised an alarm, prompting members of the public to rush to the scene.

The residents managed to break into the house and put out the fire, allowing the suspect to escape through a window.

Officers from Wanguru Police Station who visited the scene established that the suspect is the owner of the house.

His wife, Doreen Kawira Munene, aged 42, alleged that the incident was triggered by a disagreement after her husband expressed intentions to sell the house against her wishes.

During the incident, household items of unknown value were destroyed by fire, though police confirmed that no injuries were reported.
