Police at Kyumbi Police Station in Machakos County have foiled an alleged abduction plot after a middle aged man was found dumped at Lukenya Stage along the Mombasa–Nairobi Highway.
The man was weak, incoherent and appearing drugged.
According to a report filed at Kyumbi Police Station on Sunday, officers from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kyumbi intercepted a black Toyota Prado (registration KDS 554S) moments after the victim was dropped off in what police believe was a foiled abduction.
Three occupants of the vehicle were arrested: Edward Mwangi Mwai, a Kenyan national said to be living in South Africa, Nelson Wanjohi Kirika, the driver and a Tanzanian national, Aziz Hamad.
During the operation, detectives rescued the victim, later identified as Mshambah(a) Mshabaha Hamsa, with a Tanzanian passport holder working with a Kenyan-based advocacy NGO, Change for Africa Trust.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of several suspicious items, including a wine bottle with watery contents branded Tall Horse Wines (South Africa), two bent syringes, spectacles, multiple water bottles, Royco Mchuzi mix, meat tenderizer, and table salt.
The victim was rushed to Delam Medical Centre for treatment.
He told officers that he had been lured into the vehicle by a man known to him as “Musuya” under the pretext of going for nyama choma in Athi River.
While en route, he was allegedly strangled with a belt as two other men sat in the rear seat.
He further claimed the attackers attempted to inject him with an unknown substance before he managed to open the car door and jump out while the vehicle slowed down.
Police later intercepted the Prado at Kyumbi Junction as it attempted to flee the scene.
A multi-agency team has been constituted to interrogate the suspects as investigations continue under the supervision of the Officer Commanding DCI Kyumbi.
