Tension has gripped Maseno University in Kisumu county following an assault incident at the University premises reported yesterday night.
According to police records from Maseno Police Station,the incident was reported by Kennedy Gendo, the institution’s Chief Security Officer.
The attack occurred at around 9:00 PM yesterday near the ACV hostels.
The victim,a female student at the university, was reportedly attacked by an unknown assailant while heading to the outside toilets within the hostel area.
She sustained a cut wound on the left side of her head.
Police officers led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) promptly visited the scene.
The student was rushed to the university dispensary, where she was treated and reported to be in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect may have gained access to the university compound through a porous section of the perimeter fence near the hostel blocks, raising serious concerns over campus security.
Authorities have launched investigations into the incident, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend the attacker.
