DNK International A 73 year old German national has been arrested in Mtwapa,Kilifi county over allegations of possessing child pornographic materials.
The suspect, identified as Lothar Kahle, was apprehended on March 27, 2026, at around 1:15 p.m. by officers from the Tourist Police Unit (TPU) Mtwapa Base working jointly with detectives from the Children Protection Unit (CPU) under the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Mombasa.
According to police reports, the arrest followed a complaint filed by the suspect’s wife, Margaret Kasopi Chondo (35), who raised concerns after noticing disturbing and inappropriate behavior by her husband towards underage girls.
Authorities launched a forensic based investigation that led to the recovery of incriminating digital evidence.
Police say the suspect is being held for intentional and unlawful possession of child exploitation material, an offence under Section 24 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018.
He remains in custody and is expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue under the supervision of the Officer Commanding the Children Protection Unit (OC CPU).
