GBV WATCH:Teacher arrested in Gatundu South over defilement accusations

Police in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, have arrested a teacher linked to a defilement case involving a 14 year old minor.

In a report filed at Gatundu Police Station today, the case was initially reported on March 22, 2026, by the child mother who alleged that her daughter, a Grade 9 pupil identified as J.W.K, had been defiled by her teacher.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene after the incident, abandoning his mobile phone (Samsung) and a motorcycle registration number KMFW 759Y, which became crucial exhibits in the investigation.

Following weeks of investigations and tracing, police today arrested the suspect, identified as Alex Wafula Baraza, a teacher at Ituro Primary School.

Police confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and is expected to be arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Gatundu tomorrow.

Police said investigations are complete, and they are ready to present the suspect in court.
