Police in Watamu have arrested and released on cash bail a 63 year old German national accused of sexually assaulting his Kenyan girlfriend following a reported dispute at a private residence.
According to a report filed at the Tourist Police Unit (TPU) Watamu Base yesterday, the incident was reported by a woman aged 31 years old and a resident of Watamu.
She claimed that on the evening of March 31, 2026, at around 7:30 pm, she was assaulted by her boyfriend at Villa Veronica within Watamu.
The complainant stated that the suspect had allegedly taken drugs she believed to be Viagra before attempting to force her into an act she refused.
This led to a confrontation during which she sustained injuries on her back, under the left breast, and on her left arm.
Police commenced investigations immediately, and the complainant was issued with a P3 form to document her injuries.
Police confirmed that the suspect was arrested on April 3, 2026, at around 1:00 pm but was later released on cash bail pending further action.
The case file has since been forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for review and legal advice.
The Tourist Police Unit in Watamu is handling the matter.
