Police in Homa Bay County are investigating a shocking incident in which a woman allegedly brandished a firearm and threatened to shoot hotel staff after refusing to pay a food and drinks bill at a popular establishment in Kendubay.
A report filed at Kendubay Police Station indicated that the incident occurred at around 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Pikadili Hotel in Rachuonyo North.
The hotel manager Edward Onyango, told police that a white Toyota Prado TX registration number KCB 770B, carrying three occupants,two men and one woman arrived at the hotel and ordered food and beverages worth Sh 16,000.
Trouble began when the management requested payment, but the trio allegedly declined to settle the bill.
In a dramatic turn of events, the woman is reported to have drawn a gun from her waist and threatened to shoot everyone present.
Watchmen manning the hotel gate reportedly sensed danger and immediately closed the gate to prevent the suspects from fleeing.
Faced with the escalating situation, the occupants allegedly agreed to pay Sh 14,000, which was paid via a mobile money till linked to the name Mourine Achieng Onyuongo.
After making the payment, the suspects are said to have forcefully opened the gate and drove off towards the Homa Bay direction.
The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Kendubay Police Station, together with the DCIO Rachuonyo North and the Officer Commanding Crime, visited the scene, documented the incident, and initiated investigations.
The case is currently pending under investigation, with detectives from DCI Rachuonyo North handling the matter.
