Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc in Nairobi

Heavy rains that pounded Nairobi and its surrounding areas on Saturday have caused widespread destruction to roads and infrastructure in several parts of the city.

Motorists and residents reported major disruptions after sections of key roads were damaged, making transport difficult and in some places impassable. Drainage systems in some estates were also overwhelmed, leading to flooding and traffic delays across the city.

Concerned wananchi have criticized both the county and national governments, accusing them of failing to learn from previous heavy rainfall incidents that resulted in significant destruction and even loss of lives. Residents say long-term solutions such as improved drainage, road reinforcement, and proper urban planning are urgently needed to prevent similar disasters in the future.

Many are now calling on authorities to act swiftly to repair damaged roads and put in place stronger disaster preparedness measures before more rains fall.
