High Court Issues Summons Key Witness in Mbijiewe missing

The High Court has issued summons to a key witness in the alleged abduction of security expert Mwenda Mbijiwe, ordering him to appear and testify.

‎The application was made by Evans Ondieki, the lawyer representing Mbijiwe’s family, when the case came up for hearing.

‎In a sworn statement before Justice Martin Moya, Mbijiwe’s mother Jane Mbijiwe said her son was arrested by plainclothes men believed to be police officers in Roysambu while travelling to Meru.

‎She told the court that the vehicle Mbijiwe was driving at the time belonged to a friend, Edward Maina Macharia. The car was later confiscated and eventually released.

‎However, she noted that Macharia has never been summoned to record a statement or testify regarding Mbijiwe’s disappearance.

‎She further claimed that she has faced several attempts of intimidation at her home in Meru after meeting Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin, who had promised to fast-track the matter.

‎Mbijiwe’s mother described her son as a highly trained security expert who interacted with senior government officials. She presented photographs showing him in the company of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and senior Kenya Defence Forces officers.

‎She also alleged that the state had created tension between her and her daughter-in-law, saying the two no longer see eye to eye.

‎The case will be mentioned on February 18, 2026, to confirm service of the summons.

‎Mwenda Mbijiwe, a former Kenya Air Force officer and security consultant, went missing in 2021 under mysterious circumstances, with his car later found abandoned near Nyeri.

‎Seven months after his disappearance, his brother Nicholas Bundi, in a bid to pile pressure on authorities, chose to carry out a symbolic walk from Meru County to the DCI headquarters in Nairobi to raise awareness about the family’s plight as they awaited news on their missing loved one.[DNK-Inetrnational@February 11,2026
