Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Moyale have arrested a 33 year old man suspected of involvement in human trafficking.
A report from police and seen by Daily News Kenya-International inducated that the arrest followed actionable intelligence received on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as Festus Arasa Omwamba, was apprehended within Moyale town on Wednesday approximately 5:15 p.m.
Authorities allege that he has been facilitating the trafficking of individuals to Russia, where they are reportedly coerced into fighting in the ongoing Ukraine War.
Following his arrest, the suspect was placed in custody at Moyale Police Station, as investigations continue.
Police say arrangements are underway to transfer him to Nairobi for further processing and prosecution.
The case is being handled by the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU), which has intensified efforts to dismantle human trafficking networks operating across borders.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to combating human trafficking and urged members of the public to share information that could aid ongoing investigations.
