A political outfit has weighed in on the ongoing governance turmoil at The Nairobi Hospital, urging stakeholders to prioritize facts, accountability, and institutional processes over what it termed as “emotional narratives and political theatre.”
In a press statement dated March 17, 2026, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), through its presidential aspirant Prof. Fred Ogola, expressed concern over the unfolding crisis at the hospital, describing it as a matter of national importance given the facility’s role in Kenya’s healthcare system.
The party noted that although The Nairobi Hospital operates as a private institution, its significance extends beyond its membership due to its location on public trust land and its service to both local and international patients.
“Healthcare is a public good — and when institutions like The Nairobi Hospital fail, the whole country feels the consequences,” the statement read.
LDP pointed to serious allegations currently under investigation, including claims of financial mismanagement, manipulation of the membership register, and possible defiance of court orders. The party emphasized that such issues must be handled through lawful and transparent mechanisms.
“If there is evidence, let it speak. If there is innocence, let it be proven,” Ogola stated, adding that justice must be anchored on due process rather than public opinion.
The statement further cautioned against attempts to escalate the dispute to political offices, particularly the Presidency, warning that such moves risk undermining institutional independence.
“Institutional disputes must be resolved by institutions — not by political power,” the statement said. “State House should not become the boardroom of private institutions.”
LDP instead called on the hospital’s management and board to utilize established legal and professional channels, including the courts, regulatory authorities, and medical bodies such as the Kenya Medical Association and the Kenya Health Federation, to resolve the conflict.
The party also linked the situation to its broader governance agenda, highlighting its “Modernizing Government” initiative aimed at strengthening accountability, transparency, and institutional integrity.
Concluding the statement, LDP urged all parties involved to embrace truth and lawful governance, stressing that no institution is above the law.
“Kenya deserves the truth, not noise,” the statement said, underscoring the need for discipline and transparency in managing one of the country’s most prominent healthcare institutions.
