Linda Mwananchi: Third Force Alliance Poised for Grand Unveiling as Youth-Centric Coalition Takes Shape

By Our Reporter,Nairobi.

Kenya’s political landscape is bracing for the emergence of a new opposition style outfit as plans gather pace to unveil the Linda Mwananchi Alliance.

It will be a broad based political formation drawing inspiration from the influential 2007 ODM Pentagon.

The proposed alliance comes on the heels of two recent rallies held in Busia and Kitengela, led by a faction associated with Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

Insiders say the movement is positioning itself as a generational and regional bridge, deliberately targeting Gen Zs and millennials while ensuring representation across all former provinces, with additional emphasis on politically expansive and strategically sensitive regions.

According to information obtained by DNK-International, the alliance is set to roll out an interim leadership structure that mirrors a national unity approach.

Siaya Governor James Orengo is expected to serve as patron, with Sifuna tipped to take the chairmanship role, leveraging his recent court backed reinstatement as ODM Secretary General.

Regionally, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, a Wiper Party stalwart and 2027 Machakos gubernatorial aspirant, is earmarked for Eastern Kenya.

In Luo Nyanza, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi is expected to coordinate activities, while Western Kenya will reportedly be under the stewardship of Vihiga gubernatorial hopeful Godfrey Osotsi, deputised by Funyula MP Oundo Mudenyo.

At the Coast, Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako is being courted to lead mobilisation efforts, with Nyali MP Mohamed Ali expected to play a supporting role as he eyes the 2027 Mombasa governorship to succeed Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir who is also defending to be the Governor for a second term.

Nairobi mobilisation is set to be overseen by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, while Central Kenya is likely to rally behind Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro who is also being convinced to join the bandwagon.

In South Rift, Kiminini MP Caleb Amisi and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya are being positioned as key anchors.

Kisii and Kuria regions are expected to fall under the coordination of Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka.

Youth affairs within the alliance are set to be led by Kilimani MCA Moses Ogeto, while gender and women mobilisation will reportedly be coordinated by Jubilee Party official Pauline Njoroge, who has declared her intention to vie for Nairobi Governor in 2027.

Former Nairobi Senator Millicent Omanga is also being engaged to bolster women and grassroots mobilisation in the capital, amid reports of her waning influence within UDA.

Sources say Makau has already gained the trust of the emerging alliance after successfully rallying atleast 4 Wiper MPs during the Kitengela meeting that was dispersed by police using teargas, drawing parallels to the early mobilisation struggles faced by opposition movements in past election cycles.

The Linda Mwananchi initiative consciously evokes memories of the 2007 ODM Pentagon that backed Raila Odinga against the late President Mwai Kibaki, a team that included figures such as Musalia Mudavadi, William Ruto, Najib Balala and Joseph Nyagah.

While the official launch date remains under wraps, insiders indicate the unveiling will take place after the ODM National Delegates Conference scheduled for March 27, an event expected to shape the alliance’s operational direction and political posture going forward.
