A fatal road traffic accident occurred early this morning at Kantafu Shopping Centre along the Nairobi–Kangundo Road.
The accident claimed the life of a lorry driver and leaving five passengers injured.
The accident happened at about 5:40 a.m., approximately four kilometres from KBC police station.
According to police, an Isuzu lorry driven by Edward Gichuki, was travelling from Kangundo towards Nairobi when the driver lost control after crossing a road bump.
The vehicle veered off the road and rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof.
Gichuki succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Five passengers who were on board sustained injuries of varying severity.
An unidentified adult male suffered serious head injuries, while Michael Waweru sustained head and chest injuries.
Peter Njoroge suffered an injury to the left leg, Paul Kungu injured his right hand, and Gladys Morara complained of chest and back pains.
The body of the deceased was removed to Kangundo Level IV Hospital Mortuary pending post mortem examination.
All injured passengers were taken to the same facility for medical treatment.
Traffic police visited the scene and carried out the necessary procedures.
The wrecked vehicle was towed to KBC Police Station pending inspection.
