Loss To Traders as Public Toilet is Demolished

Traders operating their businesses near the public toilets at the Archives area in Nairobi woke up to a rude shock today after their stalls were demolished by the Nairobi County Government.

The businesses, including shoe-shining stands, M-Pesa shops, and small retail outlets, were brought down at around 4 a.m.

As a result, property worth thousands of shillings was destroyed.

Traders sifted through the rubble in an attempt to salvage whatever they could.

Sources indicate that the demolition was carried out to pave the way for the construction of a modern public toilet facility designed to accommodate persons with disabilities and equipped with additional amenities such as bathrooms.

However, the affected traders expressed anger at the county government, alleging that they were only given verbal notices to vacate and were not provided with sufficient time to remove their property.
