DNK International A 50 year old man in Makueni County has been arrested after setting his brother on fire inside a vehicle following a long standing domestic dispute.
According to a police report from Nziu Police Post, the incident occurred on March 8, 2026 at about 5:00 p.m. in Nziu village.
The suspect, identified as Kilonzo Mwania, an employee of the Makueni County Government Water Department, reportedly called the Officer Commanding Police Post (OCPP) at Nziu and confessed that he had burned his brother, Daniel Nguyo Mututa, also known as Kasee, aged 56.
Police said the suspect claimed the act was the result of domestic conflicts that the two had been having for some time and requested to be arrested.
Officers from Nziu Police Post visited the scene and established that the suspect had allegedly set Mututa ablaze while he was inside a vehicle at his home.
The victim was rushed to Makueni County Referral Hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.
Mwania was arrested and is currently being held in police custody as investigations continue.
Officers from the Makueni County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have taken over the case.
