Police in Bomet County have launched a manhunt for a suspect following a serious assault incident that left a 30 year old man injured and without a finger.
The attack occured near Twiggs Hotel in Bomet town.
According to a report filed at Bomet Central Police Station, officers were alerted on Thursday morning after a member of the public reported finding a severed human finger lying on the ground about one and half kilometre from the station.
Police accompanied by detectives and crime scene investigators, responded to the scene where they recovered the finger and processed the area.
Preliminary investigations established that the injury was linked to an attack that occurred the previous night at around 11:00 p.m.
The victim was later identified as Dennis Kipkemoi Rotich, also known by the alias Majonde.
Police traced him to his home in Raia Village, where his mother confirmed that he had returned home shortly before midnight with serious injuries to his hands.
She stated that her son told the family he had been attacked by a man known to him, identified as Kipkorir, without any apparent provocation.
The injured man was rushed to Longisa County Referral Hospital by his father, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Hospital sources confirmed that the victim is in stable condition.
The recovered finger was also taken to the same hospital to assist medics in further medical management.
The suspect remains at large, and police say investigations and his search is ongoing.
