Man Shot, Kidnapped and Robbed Outside Home in Thika

A 45 year-old man is nursing a gunshot wound after being shot, briefly kidnapped and robbed by armed criminals outside his home in Ngoigwa, Thika West,Kiambu County.

The incident occurred in the early hours of today at around 3:00 a.m.

According to a report filed at Ngoingwa Police Station, the victim, Joseph Nicholas Kiluki, had just arrived home from Spur Mall in Juja when he was trailed to his gate by a white Toyota Probox, registration number KCX 788.

As he waited for the gate to be opened, the occupants of the vehicle confronted him and demanded Sh100,000.

When he resisted, the assailants shot him in the neck before forcing him into their vehicle and driving off.

Police say the attackers later abandoned Kiluki at the Athena area in Kiandutu, where they robbed him of a Samsung S24 mobile phone and his car keys before fleeing.

A good Samaritan found him and rushed him to Avenue Hospital in Thika town.

Officers who visited the hospital established that the victim had been shot on the right side of the neck, with the bullet lodged in his body.

He is admitted and reported to be in fair condition.

The crime scene at the victim’s residence was visited and processed by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, including the Sub County Police Commander and Sub County Criminal Investigations Officer for Thika West.

A spent 9mm cartridge was recovered at the gate.

Police have launched investigations, with the DCI Thika West taking over the case as efforts to track down the suspects continue.
