Man Torches Houe in Mukurweini Over Domestic Quarrel.

Police in Mukurweini,Nyeri county are pursuing a 23 year old man who allegedly set his house on fire following a domestic dispute in Kibutio Village, Karaba location.

The incident, reported at Karaba Police Station on Tuesday evening, occurred at around 3:30pm when the suspect, identified as Ismael Karuru, is said to have deliberately torched his semi permanent timber house after a heated quarrel with his uncle, Felix Odour.

According to the report filed by Lucy Achieng Otieno, 33, the suspect’s step mother, the fire completely destroyed the house, leaving nothing salvageable.

Flames from the blaze also spread to a water tank adjacent to the structure, causing further damage.

Police say the suspect was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident and is known to be a drug addict.

Records further indicate that he previously spent six years at Kisumu Approved School due to repeated indiscipline cases.

After setting the house ablaze, the suspect reportedly grabbed a bag and fled the scene.

His whereabouts remain unknown.

Officers from Karaba Police Station visited the scene at Kibutio Village, where they processed the scene and launched investigations.

Residents in the area have raised concerns over rising domestic conflicts and substance abuse, calling for stronger community intervention and support mechanisms.
