A 26 year old man was killed after being subjected to mob justice in Mugambo Village, Karichu Sublocation, Mutuati,Meru County.
According to a report filed at Ndoleni Police Station yesterday at 7:00 p.m.
The incident was reported by the area Assistant Chief, Jane Kathure.
Police officers from Ndoleni Police Station, accompanied by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mutuati, visited the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found the body of a male adult lying by the roadside.
The deceased was identified as Antony Thuranira who had sustained multiple injuries to the head, both legs, and hands.
Preliminary information indicated that the deceased was allegedly attacked by members of the public on the night of January 22, 2026, following claims that he had attempted to sexually assault his mother, identified as Lucy Karambu.
The scene was processed and documented by police officers, after which the body was removed and taken to Nyambene Sub county Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with the DCI Mutuati handling the case.
