A man with earphones on was killed on Tuesday evening after being knocked down by a moving train in Bungoma County.
The accident police say may have been caused by in attention.
He was identified as Christopher Walubango Wafula.
The deceased was killed by a locomotive train travelling from Eldoret towards Malaba.
According to police, the incident was reported at 5.30pm by the locomotive crew who said the man did not die instantly.
Members of the public rushed Wafula to Dawamed Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital gate before receiving treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was seated on the railway track with earphones plugged into his ears at the time of the accident, raising concerns about distraction and railway safety.
The body was taken to Ndengelwa Mortuary for preservation pending a postmortem examination.
Police have urged members of the public to exercise extreme caution near railway lines and avoid distractions that could put lives at risk.
