Mob Justice Claims Two Lives in Kinango Over Suspected Cattle Theft

Two young men were killed by a mob on Thursday afternoon in Kinango,Kwale county after being suspected of stealing livestock.

According to a police report of the incident which was reported via phone call by the Assistant Chief of Busa Sub-Location, Mwandingo.

He informed officers at Vigurungani Police Station that members of the public had rounded up and lynched two men at Kafichoni area.

Police were told that the two men, whose ages were not immediately established, were found escorting four bulls suspected to have been stolen.

A mob formed, overpowered the suspects, and fatally assaulted them before police could intervene.

Investigations established that the bulls belonged to one Omar Kumbo Kombo, who had earlier reported a stock theft at Kinango Police Station in the morning.

The owner had been tracking the animals and managed to positively identify them after the mob apprehended the suspects.

Police identified the deceased as Chigumba Mudune and Tsuma Munyambu, both from Kikwakwani Village, Mtaa Location.

The scene was visited and processed by police officers, after which the bodies were transferred to Kinango Sub County Hospital Morgue, awaiting postmortem examination.
