Mob Justice Horror in Murang’a: Suspected Stock Thief Burnt to Death as Accomplice Escapes with Injuries

Murang’a County has once again been rocked by a disturbing case of mob injustice after an unknown man was lynched and burnt beyond recognition in Ngaini village, Githuri sub-location, Murang’a County.

According to a police report filed yesterday evening,the incident was reported by village elder Benson Mahehu, who alerted police that two people were being subjected to mob violence in the village.

Officers from Murang’a Police Station, accompanied by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), rushed to the scene.

On arrival at Ngaini village, officers found the lifeless body of an unknown msn who had been burnt beyond recognition.

The mob reportedly accused the deceased of being involved in stock theft.

A second suspect, identified only by the name Makwere, managed to escape from the scene but sustained serious injuries during the attack.

Police also found a tuk-tuk, registration number KTWC 133P, which the suspects were allegedly using.

The vehicle had been partially burnt by the mob.

Scenes of Crime officers documented the scene before the remains of the deceased were moved to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital mortuary, where they await identification and a postmortem examination.

The burnt tuk-tuk was towed to Murang’a Police Station yard as investigations continue.
Authorities have condemned the incident, warning residents against taking the law into their own hands, noting that mob justice not only leads to loss of life but also undermines the rule of law.
