The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kipchumba Murkomen, has officially declared Thursday, March 20, a public holiday to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a gazette notice issued ahead of the celebrations, Murkomen announced that the holiday will allow Muslims across the country to observe Idd-Ul-Fitr, a significant religious festival that marks the conclusion of a month-long period of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

Idd-Ul-Fitr, , which begins with the sighting of the new moon, is one of the most important dates in the Islamic calendar. It is traditionally celebrated with communal prayers, charity, and gatherings among family and friends.
The declaration of the public holiday ensures that the Muslim faithful have adequate time to participate in the religious observances, while also recognizing the cultural and spiritual importance of the occasion within Kenya’s diverse society.
