Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has written to retired President and Jubilee Party leader Uhuru Kenyatta seeking clarification on how the party settled on Dr Fred Matiang’i as its presidential candidate.
The outspoken politician also wants Kenyatta to clarify whether the Jubilee Party has a pre-election agreement with other parties in the United Opposition on political zoning,an arrangement in which parties refrain from fielding candidates in areas where an allied party is considered dominant.
Wambugu’s concerns were triggered by an event held last weekend in Nyandarua County, where Dr Matiang’i, accompanied by DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, endorsed the candidature of Senator Methu of DCP.
The endorsement has raised questions within Jubilee, as there are aspirants seeking to unseat Senator Methu on a Jubilee ticket.
