A devastating fire broke out on Saturday night at Olngaboli Bodaboda Stage in Kilgoris, leaving a trail of destruction and despair among traders and residents after several businesses were reduced to ashes.
The blaze, whose cause remains unknown, engulfed multiple kiosks and small shops, destroying goods and property worth millions of shillings.
Its occurrence has sparked concern among residents over the state of fire preparedness and emergency response in the town.
Eyewitnesses said the fire started late at night and spread rapidly from one structure to another.
Most of the stalls at the busy bodaboda stage are built close to each other, allowing the flames to move quickly across the trading area.

Within a short time, the inferno had consumed numerous businesses that serve as the main source of livelihood for many families.
Residents, bodaboda riders, and nearby traders rushed to the scene in an attempt to contain the fire.
Using buckets of water and other improvised tools, they tried to stop the flames from spreading further, but their efforts proved unsuccessful as the fire intensified.
The situation was worsened by the absence of a rapid firefighting response.
Locals said no professional firefighting equipment or trained personnel were available at the scene in time to control the blaze.
Traders counted heavy losses as goods including foodstuffs, electronics, clothing, and other merchandise were completely destroyed.
For many of the affected business owners, the losses represent years of hard work and investment, leaving several families uncertain about how they will recover.
The incident has now triggered renewed calls for improved emergency preparedness in Kilgoris town.
Residents are urging the Narok County Government and other relevant authorities to strengthen firefighting capacity and ensure quicker response to such disasters.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations will be conducted to establish the exact cause of the fire.
Investigators are expected to determine whether the blaze was caused by an electrical fault, human negligence, or another possible factor.
Meanwhile, members of the community have begun mobilizing support for the affected traders as Kilgoris town comes to reality of the aftermath of the destructive night fire.
