A senior Chief in Nyandarua County has been formally charged in court over an alleged land related offence.
The land matter has been under investigation for months.
Milka Wanjiru Mwangi, the Senior Chief of Mawingu Location in Nyandarua Central Sub-County, was arraigned before the Senior Principal Magistrate’s Court in Olkalou and charged with the offence of forcible detainer, contrary to Section 91 of the Penal Code.
According to the Prosecution, the charge stems from allegations that the public servant unlawfully retained possession of land, leading to her arrest and subsequent arraignment.
She pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The court granted her a bond of Sh 20,000 with an alternative cash bail of the same amount.
The matter was thereafter referred to court annexed mediation, signaling a possible out-of-court resolution if parties reach an agreement.
The case will be mentioned on April 20, 2026, for further directions.
Investigations were conducted by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nyandarua Central.
