Ode Francis is an accomplished investigative journalist whose career reflects courage, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to truth.
Currently working with Citizen TV, he has emerged as a bold and uncompromising voice in Kenyan media, widely respected for exposing corruption, challenging centers of power, and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities.
Francis’s journey into journalism began at Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU), where his first steps into broadcasting studios ignited a passion for investigative reporting.
Surrounded by the hum of equipment and the urgency of live newsrooms, he learned early that journalism was more than reporting facts,it was about asking difficult questions and refusing to accept surface level answers.
Each practical session sharpened his instincts and shaped his resolve to dig deeper in search of the truth.

His professional grounding was further strengthened at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC), where theory met practice and storytelling gained structure and discipline.
It was here that Francis fully grasped the demands of investigative journalism: patience, courage, and the readiness to stand firm even when the tide turned hostile.
He later completed his studies at Kenya Institute of Professional Studies (KIPS), leaving with more than academic qualifications,he carried the scars of long nights, endless rewrites, and the pressure to constantly prove himself.
Professionally, Francis first made his mark at Ebru TV, where his keen eye for detail and hunger for impactful stories set him apart as a rising talent.
His work soon attracted the attention of KTN News, which poached him to bolster its investigative unit.

At KTN, his incisive reporting and compelling storytelling earned him national recognition and cemented his reputation as a journalist unafraid to confront uncomfortable truths.
His transition to Citizen TV marked another milestone, placing him at the forefront of investigative journalism in Kenya.
“I was trained investigative journalism by BBC Action in 2019 while at Ebru. Then Africa Uncensored led by John Allan Namu came in to sharpen my investigative journalism through equipping me with tools and skills,”Francis told Daily News Kenya-International during a recent interview
Francis who is also a member of the Crime Journalists Association of Kenya (CJAK) said that his slogan always is “No guts,no story”.
Beyond the newsroom, Francis’s life is anchored by family.
As a husband and father,he has navigated the delicate balance between public duty and private responsibility.

Chasing stories that expose injustice often came at a personal cost, missed moments, late nights, and constant tension between being present at home and pursuing stories that mattered to the nation.
Yet, this balance became one of his most profound lessons, that while journalism demands sacrifice, humanity and family remain essential.
His career has not been without challenges.
He has faced intense industry pressures, limited resources, ethical dilemmas that tested his principles, and personal risks that accompany investigative work.

Through criticism, threats, and skepticism, Francis has remained resilient, driven by the belief that truth is worth the discomfort it brings.
Today, Ode Francis’s journey stands as both a professional biography and a personal testament.
His work continues to shape public discourse, inspire civic engagement, and reinforce journalism’s role as a pillar of democracy in Kenya.
For aspiring journalists, his story is a reminder that curiosity fuels discovery, integrity sustains credibility, resilience overcomes adversity, and balance preserves purpose.
Journalism, for Ode Francis, is not merely a career,it is a calling, and the way he has lived it defines the legacy he continues to build.
