The International Police Association held the biennial regional meeting of the International Executive Board (IEB) on Friday, February 13 in Manzini City, in Eswatini.
The IEB meeting was chaired by the IPA International President Martin Hoffmann, and attended by his Vice President and Chairperson of the International Relations Commission Oliver Hoffmann, the IPA Treasurer of Finances Kyriakos Perikleous, and the presidents and secretary generals of each of the 8 member countries.
In his address, the IPA International president expressed his confidence in Jared Ojuok’s leadership, saying, “We have seen exponential growth in Section Kenya since Ojuok came into office, and we have no doubt that the same will be reflected across the African continent.”
Hoffmann also congratulated the outgoing African Chapter President, Vossie Voss, for his steadfast and focused leadership, saying, “The Africa Region has set the agenda for the rest of the world, and I know you will still be available to provide insights whenever called upon to do so.”
The IPA African Chapter has eight member countries, including Kenya, South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Mauritius, and Seychelles.
The Eswatini National Commissioner of Police Vusi Manoma Masango, presided over the opening ceremony.
During the meeting, IPA Section Kenya President, Ojuok, assumed the continental leadership from the IPA Section South Africa president, Voss.
Ojuok, who was Vossie’s deputy, will now be deputised by Outam Kumar Guness, the president of IPA Section Mauritius.
In his acceptance speech, Ojuok emphasised the need for focused cooperation, recruitment and joint activities.
He said that the African chapter will embark on recruiting more countries to join the association and equally encourage young police officers from existing sections to register their membership.
In this capacity, the IPA Section President will be the link between African Sections and the World.
He will chair all the important meetings and represent the views of the Sections at all world forums.
