Opinion.DEPUTY PRESIDENT KINDIKI A WORRIED MAN

By Alex Otunga,Nairobi.

As political events keep on unfolding and temperatures gain momentum in Kenya towards 2027 general elections,Kithure Kindiki is facing several challenges as the current Deputy President of Kenya that have made him to be a worried Man at the momment.

It must be understood that there still exist Legal challenges to his appointment.

There’s an ongoing court case seeking to remove him from office, citing alleged illegalities in his appointment.

The Court of Appeal ruled that Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu had acted outside her authority by empanelling the High Court bench that cleared the way for his swearing-in.

Should this matter merit at the court of Appeal then it means Kindiki will automatically lose his seat as the Deputy president of Kenya with Gachagua resuming his previous position.

This situation has made Kindiki a worried Man whose fate hangs in the hand of the Court of Appeal.

On the other hand there has been increased pressure from the opposition figures who believe that Kindiki is in office illegally hence he ought to resign these demands have been made by Opposition leaders, including Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa, calling for his resignation, questioning the legitimacy of his tenure.

Away from that there is growing tension from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which is demanding the Deputy President position, which has created tension between Kindiki and the party.

Some leaders from Mt. Kenya region are rallying behind him, but others see this as a challenge to his position.

ODM is demanding the coveted seat since it is planning to enter into equal partnership with UDA hence demanding the Deputy President slot.

Kindiki finds himself in a fix since President Ruto is likely to drop him to embrace broad based partnership with ODM.

Gladys Wanga,Peter Kaluma,Junet Mohamed and Oburu Odinga are leading the ODM factions demanding the position with former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho positioning himself for the running mate slot just like his party chairperson Gladys Wanga the Governor of Homabay.

They are promising to consolidate votes from regions, particularly Raila Odinga’s strongholds of Luo Nyanza and other regions.

There is another concern that Kindiki is being accused of by the close ally of the president the likes of Oscar Sudi,Samson Cherargei,Allan Sang ,Farouk Kibet.

They allege that Kindiki is not appealing and does not suit that position because he lacks the capacity to pool large crowds and address public rallies with alot of authority and yet he’s the Deputy President.

Going by such statements it’s not clear if Ruto will retain Kindiki as his running mate.

Kithure Kindiki seems to be facing some challenges lately.

There are a few reasons why he might be worried Political tensions also is emerging between Kindiki and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua they have been at at odds with his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, with both trading barbs over issues like banditry in Meru and political incitement and yet he’s part of the government which is infective.

This is painting Kindiki as a failure.

The Central Kenya religious leaders also have been critizising him over empowerment projects which he has been used to launch around the country,Some critics, including an ACK bishop, have questioned the integrity and effectiveness of his empowerment initiatives, labeling them as misplaced priorities.

The fast rising star of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is giving Statehouse sleepless nights going by what is happening in his public rallies.

Sifuna is said to be pooling large crowds and strategically puting Western region into his arm with a potential of 3 million votes as a result the Prime Cabinet Secretary and foreign affairs and former Vice president Musalia Mudavadi is being considered as the favourite running mate candidate come 2027 because given Ruto’s second term and he hands over to Mudavidi he may be used to bring the Luhyia votes from the hands of Sifuna and Natembea.

It is said that Ruto hates hearing “Tawe and Sisi Ndio Sifuna Slogans”With such consideration Kindiki’s position feel threatened as Gachagua will sweep the Mt.Kenya votes leaving him with nothing to offer.

Kindiki is said to be having plan B fall back which is not limited to working with opposition they are fighting so that he can teach Ruto a lesson .It’s only time that will tell with the current political situation in the Country.
