A new nationwide, citizen led civic initiative dubbed People’s Agenda: Wasemavyo Wakenya has been established, aiming to strengthen voter education, registration mobilisation, and civic accountability ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The initiative is being implemented by an accredited Voter Education Provider and is designed to reach all 47 Counties, 290 Constituencies, and 1,450 County Assembly Wards across the country.
Its primary focus is on empowering youth, first time voters, residents of informal settlements, and rural communities, groups often underrepresented in civic processes.
According to the organisers, the programme seeks to equip citizens with a clear understanding of electoral processes, the roles and responsibilities of elected leaders, as well as citizens’ rights and civic duties.
It also places strong emphasis on enabling Kenyans to demand accountability from leaders both before and after elections.
Anchored on the principle of Wasemavyo Wakenya (what Kenyans are saying), the initiative allows communities to set their own priorities, shape public debates, influence leadership commitments, and monitor post-election accountability.
Members participating in the platform have been urged to observe utmost decorum, including respecting diverse opinions, avoiding foul language, shunning propaganda and rumor-mongering, sharing only verified information, and maintaining neutrality at all times.
Organisers describe the initiative as a first-of-its-kind, citizen-driven concept in Kenya, aimed at placing the people’s voice at the centre of democratic governance.
The official launch of People’s Agenda: Wasemavyo Wakenya is scheduled for 10th April 2026, with the venue to be announced.
