A police officer attached to Kangondi Police Post in Kitui West was today morning found dead in his house.
Police are treating the incident as suspected death by suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Constable Dennis Nzau Ndav, aged 40.
His body was discovered at the Kangondi Police Post lines after colleagues responded to concern raised by his wife, Winfred.
According to police reports, she had earlier received a distressing message from her husband and was unable to reach him by phone thereafter.
Police officers from Tulia Police Station rushed to the scene at around 8.00 a.m., where they found the officer unresponsive inside his residence.
Senior officers from DCI Kitui West Sub County and the OCS Tulia Police Station later visited the scene to oversee preliminary investigations.
Investigators established that the officer had sent a message to his wife a day earlier following reported domestic related issues.
The scene was processed before the body was transferred to Kitui County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
