A cloud of sorrow has descended on the National Police Service following the sudden death of a police recruit undergoing training at the General Service Unit (GSU) Field Campus in Magadi.
The recruit reportedly collapsed after developing sudden unconsciousness while undertaking a recruit course at the elite training facility.
According to police reports, he was rushed to Magadi Hospital for emergency treatment before being referred to Kenyatta National Hospital due to the seriousness of his condition.
Tragically, the recruit was pronounced dead on arrival at Kenyatta National Hospital, sending shockwaves through the police fraternity and his family.
The incident was formally reported yesterday evening.
His body has since been transferred to Kenyatta University Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
The death marks yet another painful loss within the security services, raising concern and renewed focus on the welfare and health monitoring of recruits undergoing intense police training.
